Kawerau Dreaming

It was Gnormans third year at The Tarawera Ultramarathon and he was looking forward to a return to Kawerau after missing out last year due to fire danger in the Tarawera Forest.

Saying hello to old friends at the finish line
Gnorman kept a close eye on the finishers medals

Cyclone Lusi put paid to any notions that anybody involved in the race had in making it past Okataina Lodge due to safety concerns.  Our littlest companion made himself useful at the adjusted finish line by Lake Okareka as he watched over the finishers medals and greeted each finisher with a smile (well I'm sure it's a smile).

Northern Lights

We were wondering what the strange glow after dark every night was.  Could it be the Northern Lights?  It was winter and we were in the northern hemisphere.

Our intrepid adventurer took a closer look and discovered it was a spectacular Christmas Lights display outside a locals house.

Now that is an electricity bill I'm sure nobody would want to set eyes upon!!

Clonakilty Pudding

Gnorman heard that the black pudding was some of the best in Ireland and had to be sampled.  Our little traveller got lost on the way to the butchers however and ended up at the finish line of The Clonakilty Marathon.

Highway To Hell

It is one of Ireland's most haunted sites, so haunted that our diminutive adventurer would only go and see The Hell Fire Club on Montpelier Hill on a bright sunny day.

Samson and Gnorman

Our tiny intrepid explorer admires the view from below of the gigantic crane  Samson (or is it Goliath?) at the Harland and Wolff shipyards in Belfast, that's right....James Cameron made a film there didn't he??
