Volcanos, Waterfalls and a trip to the moon??

While I was at the T42 marathon event in Tongariro National Park I had to find something for Gnorman to do.  I just couldn't fit him into my backpack which was already devoid of space due to the compulsory gear required so unfortunately he missed out on this occasion.

First off was a dip in Lake Taupo to cool off his weary Gnome legs, I just didn't have the heart to mention that Lake Taupo is actually the crater lake of a mega volcano otherwise Gnorman would never have gone for a wee dip :-)

Time to cool off I think

Then it was off to see Huka Falls, a quite impressive waterfall, okay a very impressive waterfall along The Waikato River.

What impressed Gnorman about the falls was the booming noise they make.  You can't hear a thing in the car park then suddenly boom the water rushes through a narrow channel and under the footbridge roaring towards the falls.

I can't hear a thing!!

What really drew our tiny heros attention was the sign pointing him to Craters of the Moon.......The Moon you say?? Yes, the moon but not as we know it Gnorman.

These craters are an area of geothermal activity just outside Taupo which you can wander around at your leisure, you don't need a space craft to visit I can assure you.  Just hold your nose if you can't stand the smell of rotten eggs :-)

Do I need a space craft??
