Looping the Loop in Naseby

Gnorman took a trip to the deep south of New Zealand to the tiny town of Naseby which is an old gold mining town that also happens to be the highest town in New Zealand at 2000ft elevation.  It is home to the Great Naseby Water Race Ultramarathon.  Our tiny adventurer just couldn't stay away........

Having met Race Director Jamie Sinclair at race registration and making it to the predawn start Gnorman saw off the runners who would run round and round and round the forest for the best part of the day

Hanging around the start/finish area was great fun as our little friend cheered on the runners, hung out with the crew and spectators and even lent a hand at the timing table.....

There was also time for some sightseeing, checking out the Mount Ida Range and some of the old gold mining equipment. Of course all this was after meeting up with race mascot Naseby (who Gnorman actually shared a beer with!!).

Of course our tiny adventurer made it back in time to greet the runners as they crossed the finish line and offer his congratulations for their Herculean efforts. Then to cap off the day it was a wee trip to the Town Hall for the prize giving ceremony, a great way to cap off a stunning event in a stunning part of New Zealand.
